Diwali Puja

Kartik Amavasya · About 60 min · 53 steps
Significance:
The festival of light — marking Lord Rama's return to Ayodhya and the worship of Goddess Lakshmi; the victory of light over darkness.
Timing:
Pradosh kaal after sunset; within it, the fixed (Taurus/Vrishabha) lagna is best; Amavasya should prevail
Do:
Clean the whole house; rangoli and toran at the main door; new murtis of Lakshmi and Ganesha (Ganesha to the left of Lakshmi).
Avoid:
After the puja, do not shut the main door of the house fully at night (tradition); do not sweep on the night of Amavasya (folk belief).
